Barry, a military brat, was born in Millington, Tennessee, into a family with a strong military

background. His early years were marked by frequent relocations due to his family’s military

commitments. Despite the challenges of a transient lifestyle, he completed his education and

graduated from Fauquier County High School.

In 1980, Barry began a distinguished military career, serving in the Army for over two decades

until retiring as a Captain in 2001. During his service, he was part of various esteemed units,

including B Company (Rangers), the 3rd Ranger Company, multiple Ranger Airborne

assignments in the 82nd Airborne Division, the 101st Airborne Division, the 10th Mountain

Division, the 2nd Infantry Division (Korea), the 24th Mechanized Division, and V Corps

(Europe). His experiences fostered a deep respect for preparedness, responsibility, and honor.

Following his Army retirement, Barry joined First Command Financial as a Financial Adviser

from 2002 to 2008, where he provided invaluable guidance to military families and earned the

prestigious Top Gun award three times. In 2008, he founded his own financial advisory firm,

BDT & Associates, Inc., which evolved into the Invicta Financial Group—serving clients

nationwide and making a positive impact on countless individuals and families.

Family has always been a cornerstone of Barry’s life. In 1985, he married his beloved wife,

Virginia “Cissi” M. Todd. Together, they raised two children, Mason and Chelsea, and now

cherish time with their two grandchildren.

Barry’s life journey, shaped by his military upbringing, diverse experiences, and unwavering
